Santa Monica might be a Mecca for the homeless but did you know that the National Coalition for the Homeless has ranked our fair city the "Ninth Meanest City" in America? Evidently, they're upset about a proposal that would "sweep homeless individuals from all the freeway sides and ramps." I guess that explains the leaflets everyone was talking about this morning, asking whether we would favor shipping the homeless to the Veterans Center in Westwood. Maybe we should ship them to Pittsburgh, instead, a city which is 55% nicer than Santa Monica according to the Coalition Report.
