LIZARD LADY AT 7TH AND MONTANA ...!

Leapin' Lizards!  An Eccentric Newcomer shocked the crowd at 7th and Montana yesterday by walking into Starbucks with a large Australian Water Dragon perched on her shoulder.  While I missed the incident myself, Robin was on the scene and has the following report:  "I was standing in line wondering why this lady was carrying a stuffed animal around on her coat ... and then the damned thing moved!  I just had to get a picture to show the latest fashion trend.  It is L.A., afterall!"  I, for one, think it's high time they banned reptiles at 7th and Montana ...!

Don't ban the reptiles...tat little guy is so cool! I was in the grocery store awhile back and wanted to know where the couple in front of me got their very realistic-looking snake bracelets. They turned out to be real baby pythons. Adorable! --Cin

Maybe she just got tired of all the snakes in the grass? So what variety did it order?

When I lived in Israel I had three pet lizards that I took for a walk on leads. It was a good job that I was never in a hurry.

Does she realise that Austrailian water dragons are called just that for a reason? They have ten gallon bladders!

Hi there!  I'm the "lizard lady"...my name's Susan and the Australian Bearded Dragon's name is Sophia.  Eccentric?  Not really...although carrying a lizard on one's shoulder does make it appear so.  My work keeps me away a lot (environmental consultant) and Sophia is about the only pet I can have, as she doesn't require hugs, kisses and daily clean-up.

She's actually not a water dragon, but a bearded dragon. They are native to Australia's deserts and do not require any more water than what is supplied in daily arugala rations.  She trundles around kind of like a dinosaur, with body lifted off the ground...and because she's indoors most of the time...she really enjoys sitting at Starbucks with me, getting some real sun, and looking at the birds, butterflies and cars that pass by.

Thanks for your interest, and please don't be concerned about salmonella or other health concerns...she's disease-free, clean and friendly.  Look forward to meeting you in person.
