PRAY FOR SOPHIA ...!

It was a sad day at 7th and Montana as word spread this morning that Sophia, Our Friendly Neighborhood Bearded Dragon, is gravely ill.  "She looks terrible," said Susan, "She's all skin and bones ... She hasn't been drinking her water or eating her greens.  At this point, I'm just feeding her Live Crickets to keep her going."  Known for basking in the sun -- and the limelight -- at Our Favorite Starbucks, Sophia has become something of a Local Celebrity, attracting a following ranging from California Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger to children of all ages.  News of her illness prompted much local speculation.  "She's lovesick," said Kathy, a former Clinical Psychologist, "Her eggs have all dried up and she's scaling back her activities."  Sophia was last seen on Sunday afternoon, perched atop a table in front of Starbucks, mere steps from the Apple Fritter display ...

OH dear.  Hope she recovers!  The bug was some sort of wasp, maybe a mud dauber.

Oh, Marty...

Thank you for the wonderful blog about "our favorite lizzie".  Yes, I've been dutifully going home and soaking her today (5-minute baths, don't get her head wet), and ran out just before the pet store closed to bag her some crickets.  She scoffed them (2 dozen) in about 5 minutes...kid you not!  (sorry to some readers who may think this is TMI.)

Well, our Sophia has a vet appointment at 8:50 tomorrow morning...yaaaay!  Gotta fatten her up before she starts hibernating.  Et moi? Maintenant, je suis travailler...late night.  Thanks again, Marty :))

Hi Everybody...

Thanks for your kind words and thoughts...even from across the pond, Gaz! :))

Good news!  Sophia's dehydration, aversion to her veggies and general wrinkly skinny-ness comes from not being warm enough!  Her basking place needs to be kept at a temperature around 80 degrees...so it's off to Craig's list, and the pet store, to purchase extra heating and lighting supplies...and, if such a thing exists, a 4-foot long glass aquarium.  (can we say, "bye bye to the France travel budget?"

Anyway, she has no other signs of illness and the doctor deemed her quite cute and sweet...awww!  I'm relieved, and thanks again for your support.
