EASTER EGGS, 7TH AND MONTANA-STYLE ...!

Egg-citement was brewing at 7th and Montana this morning as word spread that Sophia -- our Friendly, Neighborhood Bearded Dragon -- just laid another batch of 18 eggs last night.  "I cannot believe all these ovoid objects fit in her body," said Susan, amazed.  "First she raised her tail a bit, or arched it near her hips.  Then she slowly wagged that portion of her body back and forth a little bit each way until the eggs emerged, all shiny and white!"  Meanwhile, as for Sophia herself, new information suggests that she lost her "Virgin Queen" status some time ago, despite the fact that these particular eggs are unfertilized.  So much for the Immaculate Conception theory ...!

Yikes, where was she keeping all that? This is really cool. So, they are unfertilized...will there be photos of a Dragon Omelet? --Cin

So... what will Susan do with the eggs?  Can you give them to someone who wants to raise bearded dragons?  Very interesting!

be well,

Yes...the Easter Bunny...er...Lizard?...visits my house up to 6 times per year, every 3 or 4 weeks, starting in spring!  Having this little creature has been such a surprising and wonderful adventure.  Egg-laying is a lot of work for Sophia, and when she's through, she's really skinny and ravenous, and seems to like being told what a brave, good girl she is while being cuddled.  Never expected such a great personality.  On the omelette question, ummm...I'm sure the eggs are nutrient rich, but, someone else will have to do the "taste test".  Regarding the loss of Virgin Queen status...'tis true.  In the life she led before her current monastic existence...she was "with a male" (according to previous owner, herpetologist Jack), and had little lizzies as a result!

I felt the same away about the old woman across the way from me.  I imagine she's showed those same photos to just about anyone willing to listen and now, who's left?  I'm sure she loves reliving those memories and telling people of the wonderful things she did there.  And maybe I'll even enjoy parts of it.  I know I would want someone there to let me relive my memories at her age.  We pass off our elderly to anyone else that will 'deal' with them and it's not right.  They're still human.  They still have feelings.  Just because they have really very bad eye sight (she said she thought I was 52!!!! and I was standing right in front of her.. I am 25.. thankfully, I took it with a sense of humor and it hasn't scarred my ego... yet) doesn't mean that we shouldn't treat them as well as we would anyone else in our lives.  Oh but it'll be soooo boring.  You know what?  Tough shit, do it anyways.  You won't die listening to her life but you will absolutely make her day, maybe her week.  Sorry, ranting on and on when I should be saying  uhm aw?  Is this an Awwww moment?  I'm sure she's just glad to have the weight of the eggs off her.  Sofia's been sleeping around eh?  There a lot of bearded dragons hanging around 7th and montana?  lol
